Description

Thieves are sinister people. They can run and jump fast, they can hide and best of all, they do some of the most damage in MapleStory. Thieves are, without doubt, the most used class in MapleStory. They are also the second-most expensive class in MapleStory, due to the expenses tied to recharging/buying throwing-stars.

It is generally a good idea to watch out for thieves, as they have been known to kill-steal in the past. They are especially capable of doing such, due in part to their ranged abilities. This is frowned upon, and new thieves should do their best to not practice the aforementioned kill-stealing. Do not be surprised if you are defamed for KSing. But a lot of people who say this are just whiners and some thieves simply accidentally KS especially assassins who have to attack with long range and cannot control star direction.

[A note from Kurokemuri (a fellow thief)]: While there's no doubt thieves are a very popular class, saying that they are "without doubt, the most used class in maplestory" is a bit of an overgeneralization. If you look at the leader boards on NEXON's website, you can find that while thieves have around 70-80 level 200's (a good indication of the popularity of a class), the magicians have over 500 level 200's! So, while there are a lot of us hasting around, magicians outnumber us 5 to 1.

Player's Note to note: Thieves are actually more popular than what Kurokemuri's note indicates, due to that bishops by far have the easiest level 120-200. Assassins/Hermits/Nightlords also outnumber Bandits by a ridiculous number.

Becoming a Thief

Requirement: Level 10 (That's it. With v6.5 NEXON has made it so players can go all STR on Maple Island [ this is not available in all servers, though ] )

Go to Fusion Jazz Bar in Kerning City at level 10 which is somewhere on the right part of Kerning, left of the Taxi. Talk to the Dark Lord and he'll advance you as a Thief if you have the requirement stats.

Bandit Sins are a hybrid class that uses a combination of claws and daggers. However, this class does not exist in MapleStory, it is simply an idea.
